James Bree reflected on Southampton's unsatisfactory Premier League display against Bournemouth.

Watching the Premier League, many regular fans would admit that it's similar to running a marathon. Everyone enjoys their fair share of struggles but the consistent ones end up outperforming their competitors.

I know this phrase is often used in the Premier League title race but the relegation battle isn't entirely different. Every point and each matchday counts, and Southampton know it much better than their closest rivals.

After all, the Saints had triumphed over one of them just two weeks ago. Consequently, every Southampton fan was deservedly proud of the team's efforts.

Well, why wouldn't they? Finally, six games full of agony had trained Southampton to move to winning ways.

Unfortunately, that right direction seems lacking again. Firstly, a wasteful finishing saw the Saints waving goodbye to the FA Cup and a fatigued squad couldn't prevent another Premier League defeat.

Hence, this sudden decline in form has been a concerning issue. Understandably, fans are surprised but it seems that even the regular stalwarts don't have a clue about it either.

Among them, James Bree shared his opinions about the recent match outcomes. Keeping in mind the different starting phases, Bree was left in disbelief while contrasting the two defeats.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Bree said: "I'm not sure why we can't put it all together for 90 minutes. The second half felt so much better, it felt like we were on top."

I know, many Southampton fans will smile knowing the solution to the club's on-field shortcomings. Truth be told, Bree and the entire roster is well aware of the importance of consistency but implementing it is a whole different thing.

For that, the Saints must show more resilience in defence and a similar level of composure while attacking. When will they manage to do both? That remains to be seen.
