Southampton are parting with one of their top talents and have inserted an obligation to buy clause in his loan departure, according to the Athletic.
Saints are in deep trouble in the Premier League and look likely to slip out of the league despite the best efforts of manager Ivan Juric.
Thoughts are increasingly turning towards what side Southampton will turn out in the Championship as they try to bounce straight back.
It will not though see Saints field winger Samuel Amo-Ameyaw as they have agreed to let him join French side Strasbourg.
The 18-year-old is joining the Ligue 1 club on loan until the end of the season, but the departure is effectively permanent.
Strasbourg will pay Southampton a fee of €7m for Amo-Ameyaw at the end of the campaign and he will sign a five-year deal.
The winger is rated as a top talent and losing him is a blow for Southampton.
He has already undergone a medical with Strasbourg and the French side will finalise the capture before the window closes.
