The Barcelona locker room is a place that needs to be united in order to compete well. For any top club, unity is a top priority and only with it can they perform at their best level. At Barcelona, however, all indications so far regarding that matter have been positive.

Even recently, Hansi Flick himself spoke highly of Barcelona midfielder Gavi and his kind gesture that allowed Pablo Torre to get some minutes in as well. Thanks to moments like those, a clear picture can be painted of Barcelona that just goes on to showcase the team’s commitment to the players within.

However, there are also moments where a lack of trust or even frustration can be seen as well. While some occasions that showcase this can be seen on the pitch, but others are often internal matters that are hard to capture on a camera.

According to Catalunya Ràdio (h/t FCB World), there appears to be such a matter within Barcelona right now. Reportedly, there are some players within the locker room who would prefer that Inaki Pena gets to play over Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

This news comes shortly after Hansi Flick confirmed his trust in the Polish veteran, and his change of heart that now sees the Pole’s position in the team overtake that of the Spaniard’s. Allegedly, it would now seem like some players would prefer for the Spanish goalkeeper to remain as the first-choice player between the sticks.

While there is no additional information and assumptions would only add unnecessary fuel to the situation, some potential deductions can be made. It could possibly be that others Spaniards, or even fellow La Masia graduates are the ones who prefer that Pena be the player who gets to start regularly at the club.

Either way, the goalkeeping situation only continues to get complicated. Previously, Flick seemed to rely on Pena as his regular starter, and it now seems like Szczesny will be the one who the German coach entrusts with bigger responsibilities at Barcelona. Even the Spaniard himself is reportedly confused by this decision, but there is no confirmation about any speculation just yet.
