Arne Slot has revealed Alisson is nearing his return to Liverpool action.
The Premier League leaders' goalkeeper remains sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in October's win at Crystal Palace.
But Alisson could be back in action for the Reds soon despite remaining ruled out for Sunday's trip to Southampton.
"He's back in training with the goalkeeper coach," said Slot.
"He's not training with the team yet but that's expected to be done soon. Then let's wait and see in terms of match fitness.
"He's getting better and better but not ready to play on Sunday."
Liverpool's head coach also confirmed Harvey Elliott has made tangible steps towards his recovery from a fractured foot.
He added: “Harvey is training with us again so that’s the positive thing.
"He has been out for many weeks but he is on the training ground again with the team so that’s a positive thing for him."
The Anfield club currently hold a five-point cushion at the summit.
