Federico Chiesa is in line to make his full debut for Liverpool FC on Wednesday night, coach Arne Slot has revealed.
The Italian, who was signed from Juventus last month, made the briefest of injury-time cameos at San Siro last week before coming off the bench for the final 20 minutes of Saturday’s win over Bournemouth.
But Slot has hinted that he could finally be unleashed from the start against West Ham in the EFL Cup.
“I don’t think he’s able to play 90 minutes. He’s only played 25, as a maximum, in the last four or five months,” Slot told reporters.
“I don’t think he even played friendlies for Juventus but he is able to start in our opinion and if he will, let’s see. We have many options but he is able to start.
“But he won’t be able to play 90 minutes against a strong West Ham team in this game.”
Reports suggest the Dutchman could be in line to change all outfield players from their victory against Bournemouth.
