Given Chelsea’s strong position in the league it’s raised questions about how active the club will be in January, although it’s expected they won’t do any major business.

Morrison identifies signings he believes Chelsea should make

The Blues have been very aggressive in the transfer market under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital owenrship, breaking the British transfer record twice on Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea have completely reshaped their squad over the past two years and there are seemingly only a few areas left where they need to strengthen.

January is largely expected to see Chelsea focus on departures with Carney Chukwuemeka and Ben Chilwell likely to leave the club along with Cesare Casadei.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Liam Delap, with Maresca saying how much he likes the player, although any move is more likely to happen next summer.

However, Morrison believes Chelsea still need to spend in January and has identified the areas where he feels the Blues need to strengthen.

“I still think Chelsea need to spend. They need a world-class goalkeeper and a few defenders,” he told Sky Sports.

“I still think even though he’s been outstanding and brilliant, another centre forward to challenge Nicolas Jackson. I know Christopher Nkunku can come off the bench, but I don’t see Nkunku as a natural number nine.

“I think he’s best dropping in little pockets, he’s a ten. But he can’t get in the ten because we’ve got one of the best players around in the Premier League in Cole Palmer.”

It’s true those are the positions Chelsea need to address and if a good opportunity presents itself in January the Blues won’t be afraid to move, but for once it seems the club could be set for a relatively quiet window.
