Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo who has been in brilliant form this season.

The Red Devils will clash heads with the Cherries next week at the Vitality Stadium, but the 25-year-old had already inflicted damage on Ruben Amorim’s men when the two sides met in December, as he got on the scoresheet in the 3-0 routing win at Old Trafford.

According to Sky Sports, every Traditional top-six Premier League club has already enquired about the Ghanaian star, but Man Utd are the ones leading the race.

However, securing the services of the London native won’t be easy, as Bournemouth have slapped a price tag of £70 million on their prized asset.

Nevertheless, the Premier League side could be willing to negotiate a lower fixed fee in addition to bonuses, similar to the deal that saw Dominic Solanke join Spurs last summer, but that would still require quite an investment.

Therefore, Man Utd would have to raise funds, mainly by selling three attackers who have already left the club, but remain on their books. The men in question are Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcus Rashford.

Sancho started his loan stint at Chelsea in exciting fashion, but his displays dipped in the middle of the campaign. The Blues have an obligation to buy him for £25 million, but they can also cancel the transfer by paying a penalty of £5 million.

As for Antony, he managed to revitalise his career by delivering impressive displays from the get-go after joining Real Betis on loan. The ambitious Andalusians would like to keep the Brazilian winger beyond the current campaign, but it remains to be seen if they’ll have the financial means to pull it off.

Finally, Rashford’s exile under Amorim came to a merciful end when he joined Aston Villa in January. The Villains have the option to buy him for £40 million, but they have yet to make a definitive decision on the matter.

If United can finalise the sales of at least two of the three aforementioned players, they might have enough in the bank to sign Semenyo.

The Bristol City academy product has been sharpening his tools at Bournemouth since January 2023. His current contract is valid until June 2029.

Semenyo is a right-footed winger capable of playing on either flank. He naturally prefers taking the left wing where he can cut to the middle and aim for goal.
