The future of Chelsea midfielder Sjoeke Nusken looks uncertain after she hinted at a potential move away from the club after this season.
Nusken was part of the Germany squad that made the semi-finals of Euro 2025.
She was promoted to vice-captain after Giulia Gwinn suffered a tournament-ending injury, and scored the equaliser for her country in their quarter-final victory over France.
However, she missed their semi-final defeat to Spain, as she was suspended for the tie after picking up two yellow cards.
The 24-year-old will now turn her attention to the Women’s Super League with Chelsea. Chelsea’s fixtures for the 2025-26 campaign start on September 5th, where they host Manchester City.
Nusken in an interview with a German outlet revealed her disappointment at missing Germany’s Euro 2025 semi-final against Spain.
UK betting websites have Germany as fourth favourites at 6/1 odds to win the tournament when it next comes around in 2029.
In an interview with German news outlet Wa.de, Sjoeke Nusken spoke about her future at Chelsea, with her comments hinting that she could potentially leave the club next summer.
Nusken and Chelsea are coming off the back of a domestic treble-winning season.
While Nusken appeared to make it clear she will play at Chelsea during the 2025-26 season, she hinted her future could lie elsewhere once the campaign is over.
When asked if she will move on from Chelsea, she said: “I’ve already asked myself that question.
At the moment, I am currently at a good place at Chelsea to win titles. They also want me to extend.”
She added: “Last year, things didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped. Let’s see how it goes this year. After that, we’ll see – there are a few doors open where I can go.”
Chelsea kickstart the Women’s Super League season on September 5th in a tough clash against Manchester City.
The two sides will be among those hoping to lift the WSL trophy at the end of the season, alongside Champions League holders Arsenal and Manchester United.
Fixtures for the 2025-26 WSL season were released last week.
After opening the season against Manchester City, Chelsea will also face Aston Villa, Leicester City and West Ham across the first month of the campaign.
Chelsea have made four signings this summer including Mara Alber, Ellie Carpenter and goalkeepers Livia Peng and Becky Spencer.
Sophie Ingle and Ashley Lawrence are among the players who have Chelsea this summer.
