Stoke City boss Mark Robins feels that Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas’ first goal against Cardiff City shows what he is capable of.
Liverpool sanctioned a season-long loan for Koumas to Stoke in the summer and the winger has been a regular for the Potters this season.
On Saturday, Koumus put in an impressive performance against Cardiff in the FA Cup, scoring two goals in the game, which Stoke ended up losing on penalties.
Cardiff led the game with two early goals, but with the help of clever movement and finishing from Liverpool starlet Koumas, they managed to open up Omar Riza’s defence to score in the 42nd and 46th minutes to equalise.
Robin pointed out that Koumas’ first goal, where he made a run behind the line of Cardiff defence, shows what Stoke expect from him and the Reds youngster is capable of doing.
The Stoke boss also hailed the 19-year-old for his brilliant finishing during the first goal.
“I thought we showed a brilliant character on the back of that [going down 2-0 early in the game] and worked our way into a 2-1 with a brilliant move and brilliant goal from Lewis Koumas”, Robins told Stoke City’s media.
“I thought that sort of typifies everything that we want from him and know he is capable of and then he gets his second and brings us back to level.”
Koumas has featured 35 times for the Potters this season with six goals and three assists under his belt.
