Sheffield United have completed the signing of former Bristol City defender Satara Murray on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this morning.

Murray joins Sheffield United after recently leaving former club Bristol City by mutual consent. The 31-year-old centre-back enjoyed two spells with The Robins. She represented Bristol City in the 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 seasons. Her latest spell at Ashton Gate was disrupted by injury.

The defender started her senior career with Liverpool in 2019 where she spent four years before going on to play for Houston Dash, Kolbotn and FC Austin Elite. Murray returned to England in 2021 with Bristol City before joining Racing Louisville the following summer. The player had unfinished business with Bristol City and she returned to the club ahead of the 2023/2024 season.

On her day, Murray is one of the most commanding centre-backs in the game. She is a hard player, a physical player and she will be a huge asset for new club Sheffield United.

After joining The Blades, Murray said “I’m delighted. Ready to take on the challenge lying ahead, looking forward to using my experience and leadership qualities to help us along the way.

“It’s a great group of girls. There’s a great vibe, a young group of girls but willing to learn, willing to compete and that’s what we need.”

Murray is Sheffield United’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
