It goes without saying that Sheffield United will see at least one or two departures this summer in order to bring funds in to the club to help with a major rebuild.

We already know Cameron Archer will be sold back to Aston Villa, with the Blades effectively having him on loan for the season for £4 million. In addition to his departure it is looking as though Anel Ahmedhodzic and Vinicius Souza will be sold by the club.

Reports have already emerged stating the Bosnian international has a £17 million relegation release clause written in his contract. And, we know Napoli were an interested party back in the January transfer window.

Vinicius Souza is claimed to be a main priority signing for European giants AC Milan, who see the Brazilian midfielder as a perfect defensive midfielder to strengthen the middle of the park.

There have also been claims made by Alan Nixon which states Sheffield United will look to sell star player Gustavo Hamer for £15 million this summer. However this report is completely untrue. And even if it was, it would be a shockingly poor piece of business from the club given he was signed for a little less than that from Coventry City, and has ten goal contributions in the Premier League to his name, and is on a long-term contract.

Chris Wilder wants to keep Gustavo Hamer at Sheffield United

Chris Wilder is determined to keep hold of the 26-year-old beyond the summer, as the Sheffield United boss addressed the media ahead of the away clash at Everton on Saturday afternoon.

“There are certain players who maybe won’t want to be a part of that journey as well, so we understand that and have to be smart and make sure we get value for money on those players who are going out. There are players we want to keep, and Gus is one of them. And Jayden [Bogle] is one of those, and Arblaster as well,” he told The Star.

He added: “Certain players we have a plan for and we want to surround ourselves with and we see taking us forward. And who we don’t see taking us forward. It’s not personal decisions it’s how it is and how we’re trying to structure the club to make an immediate comeback.”

The Blades must retain Gustavo Hamer this summer

The Brazilian-born Dutch midfielder has been one of very few bright sparks in a terrible campaign for the football club. Hamer has five goals and seven assists to his name in all competitions for the Blades.

Since Oliver Arblaster broke into the first team Hamer has become increasingly more involved in contributing to goals. Since the kick-off away at Bournemouth (Arblaster’s first start) Hamer has two goals and three assists in nine games. This underlines the chemistry and balance the duo give to the Sheffield United midfielder, hence why supporters and Chris Wilder are desperate to keep hold of the pair in the Championship next season.

He has also proven himself to be one of the best central midfield players in the Championship having racked up an astonishing 32 goal contributions in his last two campaigns in the English second tier.
