Shea Charles joins Southampton | OneFootball

Shea Charles has left Manchester City to join Southampton on a permanent transfer.

Having begun playing for the Club’s Under-9s, he was the latest player to impressively progress through our Academy system.

During that time, the 19-year-old played a crucial part in successive Premier League 2 title winning campaigns for our Elite Development Squad, after penning his first professional contract in July 2021.

Shortly after winning his first of two PL2 crowns, Charles then made his senior Northern Ireland bow in a UEFA Nations League clash with Cyprus in June 2022.

After returning from international duty, the versatile and committed central midfielder was then elected captain of City’s EDS ahead of the 2022/23 season, before leading us to a third consecutive title success with distinction - making 26 league appearances in the process.

As the curtain fell on last season, he made his first team debut for Pep Guardiola’s side in our final league assignment of 2022/23, playing just under an hour against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
