Sevilla’s open training session ahead of El Gran Derbi attracts over 16,000 fans | OneFootball

Sevilla held an open training session on Saturday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjúan ahead of Sunday’s clash with Real Betis in El Gran Derbi.

The derby between Sevilla and Real Betis always attracts lots of attention both within Spain and worldwide, and an open training session is the perfect way to build hype ahead of the much-anticipated clash.

With over 16,000 Sevilla fans in attendance as per Relevo, the majority of the fans’s support was directed at one man; Jesús Navas. Should the legendary right-back follow through on his intention to retire in January, this will be his last derby appearance.

‘We will try to give everyone something to cheer about. It’s a different game, we mustn’t make any mistakes and be very focused.’ the 38-year-old said.

This derby clash could be a make-or-break moment for Sevilla, who have failed to set the world alight in the opening two months of the season.

Beating their fiercest rivals on home turf could be just what Los Nervionenses need to build momentum and start to make a proper challenge on the top half of the table.
