Nico Paz has been making a lot of waves since leaving Real Madrid for Como in the summer transfer window last year.

The Argentine prodigy has become one of the Serie A newbies’ best players this season under Cesc Fabregas, and has already started attracting interest from bigger clubs such as Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also been closely following his development at Como, given that they have a buyback clause for the attacking midfielder as well as a 50% future sell-on clause.

Como want to remove all clauses for Real Madrid

Now, though, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Como intend to remove the clauses in Nico Paz’s contract that currently benefit Real Madrid.

These clauses include Los Blancos’ right to match any offers made for the youngster, a percentage of any future resale of the player, and three buyback options for the next three summer windows, which start at €9 million and increase by €1 million with each year.

Como’s aim is to secure full rights over the playmaker, and negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing. The Italian side are prepared to invest between €15 million and €20 million to secure the player’s future at the club.

Should the negotiations be successful, Como are also expected to offer the 20-year-old a contract renewal.

Nico is seen as a key figure not only for the present but also for the ambitious future of the club as confirmed by manager Fabregas recently.

“Nico is a Como player. Real Madrid can buy him back, but at a certain price. Nico is a young player and our relationship with his family is very stable,” Fabregas said.

“Even if Real Madrid doesn’t want to buy him back, Como won’t sell him for €40/50 million because we want to create a future, an identity with this group of talented young players and make sure that in three or four years,” he added.

It will be interesting to see whether Real Madrid are willing to give up the leverage they have over Nico’s future for the aforementioned sum or decided to keep things as it is, with the view of bringing him back to the club in the near future.
