Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has urged the club to show more character after they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in their Champions League game this evening.

Bayern dominated early proceedings at the Parc des Princes as Julian Nagelsmann’s side took the game away from an injury-stricken PSG.

The Bavarians did not create many clear-cut chances, but they did just enough to win the game.

PSG manager Christophe Galtier started with Kylian Mbappe on the bench while Neymar and Lionel Messi tried to make things happen up front, but the Germans stifled them.

Former PSG academy product Kingsley Coman returned to haunt them again. He fired past a flailing Gianluigi Donnarumma in the second half for the only goal.

The ball squirmed into the net under the Italian keeper – another horrific CL blunder in his time with Les Parisiens.

However, Mbappe came on in the second half and tried to change the game. He added more dynamism to the forward line and stretched the Bundesliga club’s backline.

The France international even put the ball in the net, but Nuno Mendes was offside in the build-up.

Ramos asked his teammates to show more of the fight they displayed in the second half when they travel for the second leg next month.

“I am very disappointed for the supporters, but they were here,” Ramos told RMC Sports. “We will have to show more character in the second leg and more verticality.”

“We want to win and be the best we can be, but this is the nature of football. Sometimes we play well. Sometimes we play badly. What counts is the final result.

“The more we play, the more we have experience. It will get better and better. But we have to stay united.”

PSG have now lost three games in a row. Their fans booed them this weekend after losing to AS Monaco in Ligue 1. Presnel Kimpembe had to speak with them to calm things down.

Their latest failure will not help those tensions, but a 1-0 scoreline if not insurmountable. They can turn things around when they face the Bundesliga champions in the second leg.

The Ligue 1 table-toppers will hope their second-half performance can spark a turnaround of results.

They face LOSC Lille looking for three points on Sunday and will widen the five-point gap between them and Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1.
