Selling unhappy star to Arsenal could help Gunners – but also land Chelsea important striker signing

Arsenal have built up a rather strange habit of buying former Chelsea players over the years.
It seems to happen far more in that direction than the other. In recent years alone we’ve seen Willian, David Luiz and Kai Havertz all go from unwanted at the Bridge to playing at the Emirates, and the Gunners also came through to take Raheem Sterling off our hands this season on loan.

Could they do it again? We’re really hoping so. Christopher Nkunku’s second season with Chelsea has been something of a disaster, with the attacker going from unwanted to uninterested, and he now seems to be left out of the squad with a phantom injury to avoid more embarrassment all around.
We hear from all sides that the club want to move him on in the summer, and we’re not surprised. He doesn’t look a fit either stylistically or positionally for Enzo Maresca, who will be here next season and beyond.
Selling him in the summer is a priority, but after one season mainly spent out injured followed by another spent mainly on the bench, finding a buyer could prove tricky.
That’s where Arsenal come in. Reports continue to abound that Mikel Arteta is a fan, and that Arsenal could continue their trend of snapping up ex-Blues.
Who knows – perhaps be fits better at Arsenal than at Chelsea, gives them the attacking spark they lacked this season and does well there, while generating enough money from his departure to help us sign a striker better suited to Enzo Maresca’s system.
There are such things as mutually beneficial deals in football, and this could be one of them.
