Clarence Seedorf has admitted that he expected more from the attacking line-up that AC Milan put out during their 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord last night.

Milan have left themselves needing a comeback in order to progress into the last 16 of the Champions League after they put in a lethargic performance against the side that are fifth in the Eredivisie.

The intensity of Feyenoord seemed too much for Sergio Conceicao’s side to cope with in the first half and throughout the game they struggled to create much, even with the ‘Fab Four’ out there from minute one.

Seedorf was covering the game as a pundit for Amazon Prime Video and he first of all spoke before the match about the kind of atmosphere that Milan would face, also praising the summer signings.

“The atmosphere? Intense, but it comes at the right time. These new signings have started well, they bring great enthusiasm that they must ride. For a new player who arrives, finding himself in good shape with the team immediately makes Conceiçao’s job easier,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Yesterday [Tuesday] after the City game we were talking about how much they miss someone like him [Kyle Walker] on the pitch. He brings his energy, but the leadership that has been talked about for a while has definitely arrived with him.”

Then, after the game he gave his thoughts on how the Rossoneri played, giving praise to the home team but not hiding the fact that he expected more.

“We have to give credit to Feyenoord, they played a very intense game. It was difficult to find them without coverage. Milan still have a return leg to play, they can get the qualification mission back on track.

“The worrying thing is the individual performances. I expected more from this attacking department, they should have taken more advantage of the little space they had.”
