However, the West Midlands media that broke the story (see below) also revealed that this initial offer had been turned down by Wolves.

Previous reporting had stated that Jorgen Strand Larsen wants to move to Newcastle United BUT won’t agitate to get that transfer to Tyneside.

However, now on Tuesday morning, Jan Aage Fjortoft says he has been told by his sources that a second offer is imminent from Newcastle United AND this time it will be successful.

It will be enough to see Wolves accept a £30m+ profit on a player they signed just over a year ago and eventually paid £23m at the end of an initial season on loan, with a permanent deal figure already agreed before the striker scored 14 goals and also got four assists, in his debut Premier League season at a relegation fighting Wolves.

Jan Aage Fjortoft is a former Norway international (and Middlesbrough player!) and now expects his countryman to now join Newcastle United.

Now working in the media, Jan Aage Fjortoft was at St James’ Park last night for the Newcastle v Liverpool match and says contrary to claims elsewhere Wolves haven’t offered Jorgen Strand Larsen a new enhanced contract.

The Mag report – 25 August 2025:

‘Newcastle United have seen an opening bid rejected for Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to media in the West Midlands.

Claiming an exclusive on Monday afternoon, the Express and Star say that their information is that United offered £50m for the striker.

However, they add that their sources tell them that this ‘initial’ offer has been rejected by Wolves.

Sky Sports then quickly following that Express and Star announcement, reporting the same.

They claim that the Wolves position is that he is not for sale in this window because he is too important and the lack of time left in the window is not enough to find a Premier League-ready replacement.

Sky Sports adding that Newcastle United see Jorgen Strand Larsen as the replacement for Callum Wilson, not Alexander Isak. With Brentford having rejected United’s improved bid of £40m for Yoane Wissa last week.

Yoane Wissa has been another player they see potentially coming in for Wilson, however Brentford rejected a £40m bid for the striker last week.

Jorgen Strand Larsen did well in his first season at Wolves after a £23m deal was agreed with Celta Vigo.
