The 21-year-old is one of the most promising Italian defenders, but spent most of the last year on the treatment table due to injuries.

He sustained a cruciate ligament injury at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, missing out on the Euros with the Italy national team. He briefly returned to action between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 but was unlucky to miss the second part of the latest campaign with a shoulder injury.

Scalvini is seen as a potential £30m (circa €35m) replacement for 33-year-olds Dan Burn and Fabian Schär.

A product of the Atalanta Academy, Scalvini has made 89 Serie A appearances, scoring four goals and has played eight games with Italy national team, making his senior Azzurri debut in 2022.
