Death, taxes and Mo Salah scoring for Liverpool.

Since 2017-18 it’s become a sight as expected as a full Kop or Liverpool in a Champions League final. Every time Mo Salah has contributed to a goal this season - and, naturally, it has happened many times - there is an air of knowing what you’re losing in real time. Reds would be forgiven if Salah making it 2-1 from the penalty spot made them hark back to the dying days of a once-loved relationship, trying to savour the moment and appreciate getting to experience it whilst silently begging them not to go.

Salah moving on?

And the links to Saudi Arabia, whilst well-established, just will not go away. CaughtOffside are now reporting that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) - the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia that owns high-spending clubs Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr - is shifting its strategy to secure a pre-contract with the Egyptian by January or February 2025. The outlet are also reporting that the PIF are preparing a 2+1-year contract offer with, expectedly, a monumental salary. This ties in to what pundit Gabby Agbonlahor reported on talkSPORT earlier in the week.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire and it does seem that, should Liverpool fail to agree a contract with the winger, then Saudi Arabia would be the most likely option for him to end up. Salah would follow fellow former Reds Sadio Mané, who reportedly earns in excess of £600,000 per week at Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr side, Roberto Firmino who rakes in £300,000+ per week at Jeddah-based side Al-Ahli, Gini Wijnaldum who is paid £200,000+ per week at Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, and Fabinho who gain £200,000+ per week at league champions Al-Ittihad.

Salah’s options are open in the country due to the high investment strategy that has been pursued by the PIF. Joining Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad, Neymar at Al-Hilal, Riyad Mahrez at Al-Ahli or Ronaldo at Al-Nassr are all on the table at present.

Or you could win more Premier Leagues and UEFA Champions Leagues on Merseyside. The ball is in your court, Mo.
