It all started in Trieste, with a ball.
My first kickabouts were for fun in my neighbourhood in Barcola by the sea.
The first team was Zaule with my friends, and then Polisportiva San Marco, the first entirely women's team, a field surrounded by water.
A ball that took me to Tavagnacco and Chiasiellis, away from home, but still within Friuli.
And then much further away: to Los Angeles, a summer of American football, the vanguard of women's football, and then to Paris, for my first big experience abroad.
Always with my travelling companion, the ball, the instrument, the thread that allowed me to experience indescribable emotions and follow my great passion.
Then Brescia, where I tasted success for the first time at club level.
Then the emotions that you never forget – wearing a shirt with the flag of our country on your chest.
So many matches, played in so many countries in every part of the world. Our European Championship when we were very young, won in France, which gave us hope, and that World Cup, again in France, which made us known to the public and raised our profile.
And then, finally: Juventus.
So many trophies and so many battles.
But above all, a club that made dreams we didn't know we had come true.
Countless adventures experienced together in these colours, the shirt I wore the longest after the Azzurri.
But the thing I will always carry with me is the light in my teammates' eyes on the first day we started on this wonderful journey: it was all already written there.
These years represent an indescribable journey; however, the most important thing that will stay with me, as it happens to all of us who live on sport and emotions, are the people.
The teammates with whom we fought for victories on the field and for something bigger off it.
Walking side by side with you on this journey has been the most important thing for me.
There is still a long way to go, but we will always walk it side by side, whether on the pitch or elsewhere.
Thank you to my family for doing the most important thing: giving me the freedom to decide my own destiny and to chart my own path.
And thank you to the people who have been close to me over the years and become part of my family.
And then, thanks to you, the fans.
You have grown with us. Know that your emotions are ours as well.
From Trieste to Turin, via the world… the ball rolls far, but always comes back and when it does, it brings with it what it is worth the most: people, emotions, life.
Today I kick that ball and let it go. With pride, with gratitude, with a full heart: it is my farewell to playing football, yet the love for this sport and its people will stay with me forever.
