Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has been charged by the Football Association for allegedly placing bets on games during the start of this season.
Tonali was banned for 10 months earlier in the campaign for placing bets on matches during his time in Serie A with Milan.
But the Italy international will be investigated again by English football authorities.
The FA alleges that Tonali placed 50 separate bets between August 12, 2023 and October 12, 2023, in breach of rule FA E8.
In a statement, Newcastle said: “Newcastle United acknowledges a misconduct charge received by Sandro Tonali in respect of alleged breaches of FA Betting Rules.
“Sandro continues to fully comply with relevant investigations and he retains the club’s full support.
“Due to this ongoing process, Sandro and Newcastle United are unable to offer further comment at this time.”
Tonali joined the Magpies last summer and played 11 matches in all competitions before his ban came into effect in October.
