Alexis Saelemaekers spoke to Sky Sport on the eve of the match against Sporting Braga.
“I feel great here,” said the Belgian winger when asked about his time at Roma so far. “I felt comfortable from day one.”
“Honestly, this is a fantastic team. I think we are a united group and we are working hard, even if in the last few months we have gone through a bit of a difficult period.”
“However, now, little by little, we are raising our heads and starting to get the results we work for every day.”
“Ranieri? I think the coach is very respected by all the players and the entire team. I think the entire city, all the Roma fans, love him very much.”
“For us, he was a great incentive to start winning games, but also to show the right mentality on the pitch. This is what he asks of us every day, both in training and in games, and that is exactly what we are trying to do.”
“Europa League? I think we have to dream big. I think we have a group that can do great things in the Europa League, but only the future will tell us how far we can go.”
“The important thing is to keep the right mentality and work hard all week to try to achieve something beautiful.”
“My versatility? I grew up in the Anderlecht youth sector, where they teach us to play in all positions on the pitch and to perform everywhere. I think that’s where it all started: I started playing a bit on the left, a bit on the right, in attack and in defense.”
“This has led me to feel comfortable in different positions today. Then, obviously, wherever the coach decides to deploy me, I always try to give my best to help the team.”
