Manchester United have this evening confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club following the arrival of Ruben Amorim.
The Dutchman rejoined the club in the summer, working as an assistant under Erik ten Hag, before taking charge of the team for the past four matches as interim head coach following Ten Hag’s dismissal.
Upon leaving the club, Manchester United released a statement on Van Nistelrooy:
“Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend.
We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.”
As interim head coach, Van Nistelrooy remained unbeaten with three wins and one draw.
Manchester United also confirmed that Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel have departed the club.
Amorim arrived at United’s Carrington training base on Monday afternoon, just hours after his final match in charge of Sporting CP. The Portuguese’s first game in charge will be against Ipswich Town on Sunday 24 November.
