Ruben Amorim admitted that he wanted to spend less time in front of a microphone and more time on the training pitch with his players after Manchester United fell to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.

Marcus Rashford's immediate opener set the pace at Portman Road on Sunday evening, with new Red Devils head coach Amorim keen to make an impression as he stood on the touchline for the first time.

The England international's strike ended up being the only bit of magic that United fans were treated to during a cold trip to Suffolk, with Omari Hutchinson nullifying Rashford's efforts towards the end of the half.

Neither side were able to add any further goals to their tally, while Amorim held his head in his hands after being delivered a taste of life in the Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Portuguese boss made his feelings clear on the amount of media appearances he has made since arriving at Old Trafford.

"This week I spoke more [to the media] than I did in four years at Sporting CP. I just want to work with my players. Nothing more."

An interview with club media and a press conference ahead of Sunday's clash have kept Amorim busy in the build-up to the weekend. He did, however, give his thoughts on the performance after his initial complaints.

"My players were thinking too much in the game. We had just two days altogether, we need more. They leave us one against one and we have to use those moments. It was a tough match, we lost some balls without pressure.

"When you start like this, you have to control the ball. We cannot do it at the moment but they [Man Utd players] really, really tried. They are really trying and they want this.

"We have to address the new ideas now and try and be better for the next stage."

Manchester United will face Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday ahead of their next Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.
