Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has launched a scathing critique of the club’s current state, expressing deep frustration over the team’s lackluster performances.
His comments come amid a turbulent season for United, marked by inconsistent results and growing concerns about the squad’s mentality.
Ruben Amorim’s men suffered a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with Marc Cucurella scoring the only goal of the match in the second half.
It was another disappointing performance from the Reds which raises more questions about their quality, committment and their mentality.
Keane criticised the team ahead of the defeat against Chelsea on Sky Sports (via The Mirror):
“Man Utd must be embarrassed by this. “People talk about my time in the dressing room, but I was in other dressing rooms – at Nottingham Forest and Celtic. “What you want from players is go to good habits. What I see is the lack of fight, the lack of competing. You can forgive teams for losing, but when the manager is coming up most weeks and is scratching his head. Amorim’s head is spinning from being Man Utd manager. “I get why he thought: I didn’t want to get into that mess [until the summer]. He will be glad to see the back of this season. Some of the games, they have just written off. I’ve never heard so much chat from this club about next week’s game.” “Don’t think for one minute that this team is going to be top four or top five. They’ve lost 17 games this season, but they lost 14 last year. It’s not just this season. “This team just doesn’t know how to compete. This is the bit I don’t get. Turning up week in week out is the sign of greatness. And these players? Every week they don’t know how to compete.”

The Red Devils have now lost 18 games in the league, which is their worst record since the season they were relegated from the top flight.
The team struggled to create significant scoring opportunities throughout the match, registering only one shot on target.
Rasmus Hojlund was largely ineffective in attack, and Mason Mount endured a challenging return to his former club, missing two key chances and receiving a lukewarm reception from the home crowd.
With only one league game remaining, United sit in 16th place, highlighting the challenges faced under manager Amorim.
