Manchester City can confirm that Jill Roord has signed for Dutch champions FC Twente on a permanent deal, subject to international clearance.

The midfielder made 47 appearances for City during her two seasons at the Club, adding 14 goals and six assists in the process.

But she’s now completed a move back to the Netherlands with Twente, where she first began her professional career back in 2013.

Roord initially signed for City in the summer of 2023, our only new recruit ahead of the campaign.

She arrived at the Joie Stadium from VfL Wolfsburg, who she’d helped to the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in the previous season.

The 28-year-old came with a reputation as one of the finest attacking midfielders in the game and cemented that with an incredible start to life in Blue.

Scoring on her debut against West Ham United, the Dutch midfielder’s season was cut short in late January when she ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament in a League Cup win over Manchester United.

Incredibly, she returned to action just eight months later in our first WSL home game of 2024/25 against Brighton.

A first goal since her recovery would follow against Aston Villa, with Roord grabbing three in as many games across a two-week span in October and November.

The Dutch midfielder would finish her final season at City with 31 appearances, six goals and three assists, finding the net in what would ultimately be her last match against Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign.

But she’ll now begin a new chapter of her career back in her native Netherlands with Twente, who were recently crowned Dutch champions for the third time in four seasons.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Jill for her efforts while at the Club and wish her the very best in her future career.
