The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, once again addressed the much talked about project for Roma’s new stadium.
In an interview with The Roman Podcast, Gualtieri touched upon the progress that is being made with regards to the projected opening date for the stadium on the club’s centenary in 2027.
“Our objective remains 2027, the stadium can still be built by that time,” said Gualtieri.
“We made the declaration of public interest with respect to the preliminary project. The Council voted in favor of it. In this case we’re not only talking about the stadium but about the rejuvenation of the entire area of Pietralata. For this, the public debate has also been completed.”
“Now the club is carrying out archaeological surveys to complete the definitive project which will then be the one that will be realized. It is no longer in our hands: if everything goes well, as we hope, if the surveys are positive and the club can present the executive project in a few months, then construction work will begin.”
