According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike (21) in the summer as they look to prepare for the departure of Romelu Lukaku (30).

Despite their interest in the forward and their strong relationship with PSG that has seen the Italian club become almost a halfway house for their unwanted talent, with recent deals seeing Leandro Paredes, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Renato Sanches all shifted out to the Giallorosso, there remains a difficulty in completing this transfer.

Roma’s challenge

The forward has only started one of the ten games he’s played for Frankfurt as he recovers from a season where he was not allowed to use any of PSG’s training facilities, but the German club believe in his potential, which is why they have pursued this transfer since last summer.

If Roma want Ekitike they will likely have to wait on Frankfurt’s decision. It’s possible that if the option is exercised, they can then convince Frankfurt to sell, but regardless this will not be a simple transfer for the Italians.
