This summer, Manchester United will be on the market for a prolific frontman to ease the goalscoring burden on Rasmus Hojlund.

The young Dane has been Erik ten Hag’s only available centre-forward since Anthony Martial sustained an injury last year, with his last outing coming in the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on December 9.

At times, the manager has opted to utilise the likes of Marcus Rashford and even – more recently – Bruno Fernandes up front while looking to manage Hojlund’s minutes ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final.

Therefore, when Benjamin Sesko’s agent was pictured at Old Trafford watching the Reds lock horns with Arsenal on May 12, it sparked an uprise in speculation over United’s pursuit of the RB Leipzig player. The Gunners also hold an interest in acquiring Sesko’s signature, so it’s no wonder why Elvis Basanovic chose that fixture to attend before the window opens in June.

Across the 2023/2024 term, the 20-year-old netted 18 times in all competitions and notched two assists, while scorning in each of his past seven Bundesliga outings.

Leipzig are doing their utmost to keep hold of their starlet for at least another season, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the club have approached his representatives to offer a ‘lucrative new contract’. It comes amid widespread interest in Sesko, primarily from the Premier League.
