Alessandro Florenzi’s time at AC Milan could come to an end this summer with the club targeting a potential replacement, according to a report.

The appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach has put Florenzi’s future in doubt. He had some difficult days while at Roma with the Portuguese, which eventually resulted in him leaving his boyhood club to join Valencia and PSG on loan before ending up at Milan.

According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, Florenzi could leave Milan this summer despite the fact that he has another season left on his deal, which runs until June 2025.

The Rossoneri are already looking for new right-back to join the club, and it is ‘one of the priorities this summer’. That would in theory reduce the playing time for the Italian, and could lead to a parting of ways.

Florenzi was a ‘reserve’ option last season and the back-up to Davide Calabria, but he was still used in 40 games by Stefano Pioli, while his experience and set piece taking are seen as valuable by many.

Fonseca will likely make an assessment when preseason begins in six days, knowing that the arrival of a target like Emerson Royal or Tiago Santos could limit the usage of the Italian.
