Why Roma fans are banned for Venezia match

Though they were not involved in the clashes between Venezia and Udinese supporters last weekend, Giallorossi fans from several regions of Italy are banned from attending their next match.

According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma and Udinese ultras have a close relationship and local authorities reportedly fear a repeat, or an act of revenge from the Giallorossi supporters in response to last week’s clashes.

Some Roma supporters are still permitted to attend, as long as they do not reside in the capital, or in Udine or Pordenone.

As most fans who had intended on attending had already bought tickets and made transport arrangements, it is expected that many will still travel to Venice to support the team from locations other than the stadium.

The match is due to kick off at 11.30 GMT on Sunday morning.
