Roma keep canvassing the market for an offensive weapon, and they have probed Leon Bailey, who’ll likely leave Aston Villa this summer. He’s wanted by multiple sides and will soon make his decision, Alfredo Pedullà reports.
The 28-year-old has accumulated 144 appearances with Aston Villa, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists. He’s been in Birmingham since joining in 2021 on a €32M move after a long spell at Bayer Leverkusen. He has 39 caps and 7 goals with Jamaica.
Roma plan to add two new wingers, and so Bailey and Jadon Sancho aren’t mutually exclusive. They have reached out to the latter, but he continues to take his time to assess every proposal on his table and pick the one he likes best. The Giallorossi have tabled a serious one. They are also tracking Fabio Silva, while everything has been quiet on the Artem Dovbyk front. His departure would unlock the acquisition of Nenad Krstovic from Lecce.
According to The Athletic, the capital club is offering an initial loan for the Aston Villa attacker, who’s keen on leaving as he was no longer a centerpiece last season. Per Calciomercato, they are pondering not including an option to buy for Claudio Echeverri if that’s the only way to get the deal done. Manchester City don’t want to lose him.
They have signed only young-ish players so far but, if they aim for a twofer, one might be a little more experienced. They don’t have money to throw around, so they have to be surgical. The more forwards, the better under Gian Piero Gasperini.
