Roma are rumored to have made their first steps towards the potential signing of Jonathan David this summer.

After appointing Florent Ghisolfi as their new technical director and the primary executive in charge of Roma’s sporting area, the Giallorossi have now begun preparations ahead of the busy summer transfer window which will see the club undergo several significant changes with regards to their roster.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport claims Roma are, among other things, prioritizing Romelu Lukaku’s replacement: with Big Rom likely on his way back to Chelsea, the capital club are searching for a younger player to replace him in the long run.

The newspaper suggests that Ghisolfi has put his sights on Lille star attacker Jonathan David.

In fact, the article reports that Roma have entered the competitive race for David who is intent on leaving Lille this summer with only one year left on his current contract.

With 43 goals across the last two seasons in Ligue 1, David is projected to become one of the most prestigious transfer targets this summer.

Given the expiring contract, his pricetag would be considerably lower than a year ago, but the competition remains the main obstacle for Roma.
