Rob Edwards Edwards has been named Middlesbrough new head coach, agreeing to a three-year deal with the club.

The 42-year-old left Luton Town by mutual consent in January and now takes over from Michael Carrick, the former Manchester United and England midfielder.

Edwards took Luton up to the Premier League in 2023, but the side went back down a year later. He was let go in January while the team were sitting 20th in the Championship.

His goal now is to push Boro up the table, after they narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, finishing 10th and just four points off the pace.

He also has a promotion to League One on his CV, having led Forest Green to the title in the 2021/22 season.

He’ll be joined in the dugout by Adrian Viveash and Harry Watling.
