Riquelme weighs in on Paredes staying at Roma | OneFootball

Boca Juniors legend and current president Riquelme weighed in on Leandro Paredes’ decision to stay at Roma.

Despite Boca’s attempts to lure him back to Argentina in January, the midfielder ended up staying in the Italian capital as he nears the option to automatically have his contract with Roma renewed.

Speaking on DirecTV, Riquelme shared his thoughts on the situation: “Paredes has renewed with Roma, so how can I think he will come in June if he has just signed?”

“He always has the doors open at our club, and we will maintain the hope of having him with us.”

He added, “He knows how highly I regard him. I had the pleasure of playing with him when he debuted, and I encouraged trust in his abilities at that time.”

“We will always cherish the dream of having him in our squad; there’s no point in discussing anything else.”
