Liverpool are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Atalanta attacking midfielder Ademola Lookman.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Reds have made contact with the player’s agent.

Arne Slot previously hinted that Liverpool could be looking to sign players in January if the right player is available at an affordable price and said that Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are constantly working behind the scenes to find suitable targets who can take the club forward.

The 27-year-old attacker wants to return to England, where his career started. He played for Charlton Athletic, Fulham, Everton, and Leicester City before joining the Serie A club permanently in 2022.

He has been in terrific form for the Bergamo club in 2024/25, where he has netted 11 goals in all competitions already. However, Atalanta are willing to meet his contract demands, and are ready to sell him.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also keen to sign him, and any potential club will have to pay a handsome fee of around £41.4 million for his signature.

Should Liverpool be looking to sign Ademola Lookman?

The Nigerian forward is enjoying the form of his life, and the Reds could make a move if they ship out any of their current forwards.

Liverpool will likely not move for Lookman. Hughes and Edwards would rather spend the money on talented young players who can represent the club for years to come.

The Reds signed Salah when he was 24, and the club helped him become a world-class player. The same can be said about Sadio Mane, who enjoyed his prime years at the club.

Federico Chiesa can be seen as an exception, but Liverpool signed him for just £10 million. It won’t hurt them financially if the transfer doesn’t work out.
