Inter Milan stalwart Hakan Calhanoglu will not join Galatasaray despite intense transfer rumors all summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, it was wishful thinking from the get-go.
Indeed, Galatasaray’s interest in Hakan Calhanoglu was purely patriotic.
Furthermore, the 31-year-old was never a genuine tactical priority for Okan Buruk’s side.
Despite being aware of the situation, the Turkey captain had secretly hoped to join the Istanbul giants.
The former AC Milan playmaker has never requested a transfer, but his silence hinted at a quiet openness to a return home.
However, that’s now in the past, with Galatasaray having withdrawn from negotiations.

Though Inter were ready to sell, they were always going to do that on their terms.
Any deal would require a non-negotiable fee of €25–30 million, a figure deemed excessive by the Turkish club.
Therefore, Calhanoglu will, in all likelihood, remain at San Siro.
Calhanoglu’s stay means Inter will likely drop their interest in Ederson and João Palhinha.
Despite Bayern Munich’s readiness to negotiate a transfer, there’s no longer a need for the Portuguese’s services.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray remain focused on signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
