Wages could be a major obstacle to a swap deal involving Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi and Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
In the last couple days, reports have emerged that Inter and Roma are considering a shock swap deal.
On the one hand, Inter midfielder Frattesi has reportedly grown dissatisfied with his playing time.
The 25-year-old feels that he does not have the prospect to start more matches for the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, Frattesi is reportedly aiming to join a new club in search of more playing time. He reportedly wants to rejoin his boyhood team Roma.
On the other hand, Giallorossi captain Pellegrini has seen his own playing time fall off dramatically this season.
Therefore, it is looking as though the 28-year-old will leave Roma. Possibly even as early as the January transfer window.
Inter and Roma could very well find a mutually beneficial arrangement.
However, there would be a couple obstacles to this happening.
Firstly, there is the fact that Inter would expect a fee for Frattesi in addition to Pellegrini coming the other way. They consider Frattesi to have a high transfer market value than Pellegrini.
Then, there is the matter of Pellegrini’s wages.
The 28-year-old earns considerably more than fellow Italian international Frattesi.
And Inter are aiming to lower their wage bill in the next few seasons. They would particularly be reluctant to sign a player on high wages if that player is not going to be a regular starter.
