Liverpool FC’s renowned home ground, Anfield, isn’t just a temple of football; it has also become a vital cultural hub contributing significantly to the local economy, according to a recent report from Turley Economics.
The report highlighted that since 2019, Anfield has hosted 11 concerts, attracting nearly half a million visitors and injecting over £31 million into the local economy. This year alone, big names like Taylor Swift and P!nk have graced the stage, attracting thousands and underscoring Anfield’s role not only as a sports venue but also as a premiere entertainment destination. Ben Latty, Liverpool FC’s chief commercial officer, expressed pride in the club’s role in boosting the local economy and job market, noting, “We’re delighted to play our part in boosting the local economy and providing local jobs through the staging of concerts at Anfield.”

Anfield concerts have also been a boon for local employment. Each event requires a minimum of 1,450 staff, with 85% of these jobs going to locals. More than half of the employees are under 30, indicating the club’s role in providing critical early career opportunities. This commitment to local employment fosters a deeper community connection and ensures that the benefits of these events are felt directly by the city’s residents.
The Anfield Road Stand’s recent expansion, increasing the stadium’s capacity to around 61,000, was not just about football. It has made the venue even more attractive for high-calibre events. Liverpool City Council’s member for culture, Councillor Harry Doyle, remarked on the success of the redevelopment: “The redevelopment of Anfield stadium has been a huge success for the club – and the city. The fact this iconic venue now doubles up as a world-leading concert venue each summer has been a tremendous boost to our tourism economy.”
The excitement continues to build with recent announcements like Dua Lipa’s upcoming performance next summer, highlighting the ongoing appeal of Anfield as a top-tier concert venue. The prospect of hosting more world-class acts promises to keep the spotlight on Liverpool, enhancing its cultural landscape and economic vitality.
As ardent supporters of Liverpool, it’s thrilling to see Anfield thrive not just in the footballing world but as a beacon of culture and economy in our beloved city. The influx of global music icons like Taylor Swift and the upcoming Dua Lipa concert not only elevates our city’s cultural standing but also brings palpable economic benefits that touch every corner of the community.
The strategic expansion of Anfield and the successful staging of major events reflect a visionary approach by the club’s management, ensuring that the legendary grounds remain a hub of excitement and activity all year round. This strategy not only reinforces our pride in Liverpool FC but also deepens our connection to Anfield, not merely as a place where football is played, but where culture and community come alive.
For us fans, it’s about more than just the music or the games; it’s about seeing our home being put on the map again and again. Every concert at Anfield is a testament to Liverpool’s resilience and charm, making each event something to look forward to with great anticipation.
