Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa will depart Inter Milan next summer to make way for Lille center-forward Jonathan David.

According to Tuttosport, as reported by FCInterNews, the reigning Serie A champions have set the groundwork for the Canada international’s arrival on a Bosman deal.

Inter’s interest in Jonathan David is long-standing.

Simone Inzaghi’s men were keen on the 24-year-old last summer but settled for Marcus Thuram’s arrival on a free transfer.

That’s proved a massive coup for the Giuseppe Meazza outfit.

Indeed, Thuram forged a formidable attacking partnership with Lautaro Martinez, forming the backbone of Inter’s Scudetto charge last term.

But Inter still eyed a move for David this summer, albeit to no avail.

With his contract at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy expiring next summer, the ex-Gent marksman will be available for free.

Despite his contractual wobble, Lille refused to let their most prolific player leave in the transfer window just gone.

In all fairness, it was understandable, considering they forked out €30 million to sign him four years ago.

And he has repaid that trust with mesmerizing performances in Ligue 1.

David has enjoyed a phenomenal start to the 2024/25 season, tallying eight goals and two assists in 13 appearances.

Thus far, the highlight of his season was a match-winning penalty against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

With Inter determined to acquire David’s services, it’s time for Arnautovic and Correa to wave goodbye to Meazza.

The Nerazzurri tried to offload their outcasts during the summer transfer session.

However, both players refused several lucrative approaches from abroad.

Still, they’ve only postponed the inevitable.

Both players have contracts running out at the end of the season.

Since Inter are reluctant to offer them fresh terms, they’ll likely make way for David.
