Gian Piero Gasperini was famously approached by Juventus shortly before committing himself to Roma’s new project.
The Italian technician was one of the candidates to replace Igor Tudor when the Bianconeri were still uncertain as to who their next coach would be.
According to journalist Sandro Sabatini to Gekobetnews, once Antonio Conte’s refusal arrived, the general manager of Juventus, Damien Comolli, would have called Gasperini, and, given his very international approach to human resources, he would have asked the coach why he should choose him for the Bianconeri bench. On the other hand, the answer of the coach was fully in his style: “Look, it’s really you who called me, not the other way around…”.
The interview therefore did not start in the best possible way, with Gasperini who decided to keep his word given to Roma and is now preparing to start this new adventure in the capital, with the hope that he will be able to replicate what was seen in Bergamo.
