AC Milan are thinking about adding a sporting director figure to expand the management once again, according to reports.

TMW state that CEO Giorgio Furlani has been increasingly central in transfer negotiations, with technical director Geoffrey Moncada obviously supporting. Following Antonio D’Ottavio’s dismissal though, the hypothesis of a new sporting director arriving is gaining steam.

The hottest name at the moment is that of the former Monza and Olympiakos man Francois Modesto, recently linked to Nottingham Forest. Once the transfer window is over, the owners will get to work to try to understand if there is room for the inclusion of the new director.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also report that there is interest from Milan but they are yet to make a final decision on Modesto. He was a player until 2016 and played for Cagliari from 1999 to 2004, then in 2016 he began his career as an executive.

He worked at Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest, developing a very close relationship with the owner Evangelos Marinakis. From 2022 to the end of 2024 he was the sporting director for Adriano Galliani’s Monza, a relationship that ended on December 30 last year.

Curiously this was the same day the switch from Paulo Fonseca to Sergio Conceiçao took place at Milan. Above all, in 2024 there were very strong rumours about his possible move to Roma, which then did not materialise.
