Dean Huijsen became the first signing of the summer for Real Madrid, with the Merengues securing his services by activating his €58 million release clause at AFC Bournemouth.
The 20-year-old Spanish international has signed a long-term contract until 2030 with Los Blancos and his official presentation is all set to take place tomorrow.
Now, according to Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Huijsen could be set to take the No. 24 shirt in his debut season at Real Madrid.
The No. 24 shirt has a rich history at Real Madrid with former players and icons like Claude Makelele, Nacho Fernandez, Aitor Karanka, and Sami Khedira, among others, having donned it for at least a season in the past.

The most recent holder of the #24 kit at Real Madrid was Arda Guler, who took the shirt in his debut season before moving to No. 15 in 2024/25. Prior to that, the likes of Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos had worn the number.
Now, it appears that Huijsen could be the recipient of the No. 24 shirt at Real Madrid in his first season at the Spanish capital club.
The 20-year-old prospect wore the No. 2 shirt in his only season at Bournemouth. Prior to that, he had the No.3 kit on loan at AS Roma and the No. 13 shirt with the Juventus first-team setup.
As far as the Spanish national team is concerned, Huijsen donned the No. 12 shirt in their recent UEFA Nations League matches – a shirt number that also happens to be available at Real Madrid.
But as per the report, the young defender will be given the No. 24 shirt as he prepares for his new journey in Madrid.
