As the summer transfer window heats up, Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze has emerged as a potential target for several Premier League clubs involved in next season’s Champions League. According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Newcastle United are among the sides maintaining long-term interest in the 26-year-old England international. However, there have been no significant developments so far, and the situation remains at an early stage.
Eze’s future is one of the more intriguing subplots of the window. His talent, versatility and upward trajectory have caught the attention of clubs both domestically and abroad, but his contractual situation, including a release clause and the possibility of performance-based increases, adds complexity to any potential move.
Tottenham remain in the mix for Eze but are currently understood to be more advanced in their pursuit of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. Both players are admired by the recruitment team at Spurs, with more groundwork laid in recent weeks.
Despite this, Eze’s name still figures prominently on their long-term radar. As Sky Sports report, “Spurs remain interested in Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo and have done more work towards signing one of those players so far this summer.” However, the situation around Eze has not reached a decisive stage, and clubs are yet to trigger his £60 million release clause.
The clause itself presents a relatively straightforward route for any club willing to match the figure. However, it is understood the fee could rise over time, dependent on Eze’s performances. This could make waiting a risk, especially as his standing within the England set-up continues to grow.
Eze’s current deal with Crystal Palace runs until 2026, placing the South London club in a strong negotiating position. Although a £60 million release clause exists, it remains unclear whether any suitors are prepared to act swiftly.
For Manchester City, Eze represents a player whose ability to operate in tight spaces and beat defenders in one-on-one scenarios would complement their possession-heavy system. Newcastle United are similarly keeping a close eye on developments, viewing Eze as a potential creative fulcrum in midfield or wide positions.

While English clubs currently lead the race, Sky Sports note that “the England forward is of long-term interest to Spurs, Man City and Newcastle – as well as many other clubs at home and abroad.” This highlights the growing competition for Eze’s signature.
Over the past two seasons, Eze has grown in stature and consistency. Injuries have been kept at bay, and his influence in Palace’s attacking third has become increasingly central. His ability to create space, break lines and score goals makes him one of the most exciting players in the league outside of the traditional ‘big six’.
Palace, for their part, are under no pressure to sell. The club have lost Michael Olise to Chelsea already this window and will be determined to retain Eze unless a suitor activates his clause. With two years remaining on his contract and the prospect of European football for some of the interested parties, the player’s future could be one of the key storylines to follow across the summer.
Whether Spurs or any of the other interested clubs make a concrete move will depend on several factors — including progress on other targets, player sales, and the overall strategy heading into the season. As of now, interest remains informal, but the potential for a late-window move cannot be ruled out.
Tottenham’s need for attacking quality is evident, and with uncertainty over the fitness and availability of other players, Eze’s profile may grow in importance as the window progresses. His release clause provides a level of clarity that is often absent in such negotiations, but his valuation and rising stock mean timing will be everything.

From a Spurs perspective, Eberechi Eze ticks a lot of boxes. He is English, Premier League-proven, highly skilful and capable of playing across multiple roles in the final third. With the club aiming to close the gap on the top four, adding a player of Eze’s calibre would be a strong statement of intent. Fans have seen glimpses of Postecoglou’s vision in his first year, but the squad still lacks a consistent creative spark from deeper areas or wide zones.
There is, however, understandable caution over the £60 million release clause. Spurs have historically operated with financial prudence, and with Semenyo and Mbeumo reportedly more advanced in talks, supporters may see Eze as more of a luxury than a necessity. That said, the longer the window goes without movement, the more his value could rise, especially if he features heavily in pre-season or impresses again in the early weeks of the campaign.
If Tottenham are serious about bridging the gap to the elite, then players like Eze, who offer both flair and work rate, must be part of the equation. While fans may be divided over the fee, few would question the ambition behind targeting such a talent. His arrival would instantly lift the quality of the attacking unit and could become a cornerstone piece in Postecoglou’s long-term plans.
