Ben Doak’s Liverpool Future Unclear as Premier League Clubs Circle

Summer Interest Building Around Promising Winger

Liverpool winger Ben Doak is at the centre of mounting transfer speculation as several Premier League clubs, including Everton, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth, continue to track the 19-year-old’s future. After a promising yet injury-disrupted loan spell at Middlesbrough, Doak finds himself in a pivotal summer that could determine the next stage of his development.

According to Liverpool.com, no formal offers have been received yet for the Scotland international, but clubs across England, Spain, and Italy are watching the situation closely. With Liverpool yet to clarify plans for Doak ahead of pre-season, uncertainty lingers.

Squad Competition Intensifies at Anfield

While Liverpool’s recent signings — Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz — are unlikely to play primarily on the right flank, their arrivals nonetheless add pressure to an already competitive attack. The picture became more complicated following Mohamed Salah’s contract extension, which has solidified his role for at least two more seasons.

“Mohamed Salah’s decision to sign a two-year extension in April has skewed the picture of Doak’s future prospects and immediate opportunities to play in the first team.”

This development, combined with a slow start to the window for some clubs, has created a domino-effect scenario where Doak’s destination may hinge on other transfers — such as potential moves for Eberechi Eze or Antoine Semenyo.

Premier League Trio Eye Young Talent

Crystal Palace, who had a bid rejected for Doak in January, remain long-time admirers. If Eze leaves Selhurst Park, the Eagles could reignite their pursuit. Bournemouth, too, may need reinforcements if Semenyo departs — although his £70m valuation may stall that outcome.

Meanwhile, Everton’s interest is well established. The Toffees are in the midst of reshaping their squad ahead of a fresh era under new ownership and see Doak as a high-upside signing. With squad pillars like Seamus Coleman signing extensions, and others like Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye expected to stay, Everton may now pivot to younger, attacking additions.

Pre-season Decision Looms

Doak’s next steps may also depend on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia. Though nothing has been confirmed, Liverpool.com suggests the youngster isn’t sure whether he’ll be included in the travelling squad for the upcoming tour in Hong Kong and Japan.

Despite ending his Championship campaign early due to a thigh injury, Doak is fit and training, having posted clips from his rehab in Portugal. With 10 senior appearances under his belt, he’s eager to build on that and take the next leap.

“Sources have indicated he is eagerly awaiting any news and is determined to continue his development next season.”

For now, the message is clear: Doak is ready, but he needs clarity — either from Liverpool or an interested club — to shape what could be a crucial year in his young career.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, the Ben Doak situation is layered with both excitement and frustration. On one hand, Doak showed clear promise at Middlesbrough before his injury — his direct style, raw pace, and fearless dribbling mark him out as a future star. But as with so many young players at a club of Liverpool’s stature, opportunity doesn’t always knock loudly.

With Salah staying and no sign of a tactical shift under Arne Slot that would favour youth integration over experience, it’s fair to question whether Doak will get the game time he needs. It’s encouraging that top-flight clubs are interested — that suggests he’s doing something right. But losing him permanently would sting, especially if he blossoms elsewhere.

There’s also the matter of player development. At 19, what Doak needs is minutes — not just cameos in cup matches. A move to Crystal Palace or Bournemouth, clubs with a recent history of nurturing attacking talent, could work wonders. Still, many fans would rather see a loan with a development plan than a hasty sale.

If Liverpool can’t guarantee minutes, they must at least ensure any move benefits the player and the club. Ideally, a sale would include a buy-back clause or sell-on percentage.

Ultimately, Doak has the qualities that fit a modern Liverpool system. Whether he gets the chance to show it is the lingering concern.
