Bournemouth have made two attempts to try and sign Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong according to reports.
The Cherries have lost three of their first choice back four from last season in Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Illia Zabarnyi, and are looking for reinforcements.
It’s believed Bournemouth made an enquiry for Acheampong earlier this summer, and Maresca stated at the Club World Cup he wanted to keep the teenager.
Acheampong was promoted to the first team squad last season, along with Tyrique George, and made 13 appearances in all competitions, although just four of those came in the league.
The 19-year-old had been frozen out by Chelsea last year, but Acheampong signed a new five year deal in December, committing his long term future to the Blues.

With Levi Colwill set to miss most of the season with an ACL injury, Acheampong could be handed more minutes, although Maresca has stated he wants a new centre back.
Acheampong is reportedly attracting interesting from Manchester City, and The Sun have reported Bournemouth have made Acheampong their top defensive target.
The reports adds the Cherries are desperate to get a deal over the line, with Chelsea only prepared to sanction a loan deal.
The Sun state Chelsea are keen to repeat what they did with Colwill by loaning Acheampong out to get first team experience.
Chelsea’s stance could change towards the end of the window, but it’s unlikely they’d want to lose the talented teenager on a permanent basis.
Whilst Chelsea want to keep Acheampong, it’s quite the opposite for Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga, with Chelsea trying to sell the pair before the end of the window.

Veiga saw a move to Atletico Madrid fall through earlier this summer, whilst Chelsea knocked back a bid from Villarreal.
Disasi has attracted interest from clubs, the most recent of which was reportedly Wolves, although no official offers have been made for the Frenchman.
