Inter Milan are reportedly still in the running to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma as his contract saga with PSG is pushing him towards an exit.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

Italian international goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the end of next June.

However, contract extension talks between the 26-year-old and the reigning Champions League holders haven’t taken off.

The Corriere della Sera report that Donnarumma has rejected PSG’s most recent offer for an extension. He is still holding out for a higher fee.

Therefore, it is looking as though the Parisians face a choice: cash in on Donnarumma now, or lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Furthermore, the fact that PSG are set to sign Lille keeper Lucas Chevallier is a clear sign that they are prepared for the loss of Donnarumma.

Considering that PSG have signed Chevallier, their plan seems clear.

The Parisians have little intention of having two keepers fight for the starting spot. They’ve tried that with Kevin Trapp and Alphonse Areola, with Areoal and Gianluigi Buffon, and with Keylor Navas and Donnarumma himself.

Therefore, it seems very clear that PSG want to sell Donnarumma this summer.

If the Italian international is to leave the Parc des Princes, then the Premier League appears a likely destination.

Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea would all be potential next clubs for Donnarumma.

However, as the Corriere della Sera note, Inter have always been keen on Donnarumma.

And if the former AC Milan keeper is to see out his contract at PSG, then the Nerazzurri could spring into action, with their penchant for big free transfer signings hardly a secret.
