Report – Inter Milan Coach Chivu Smooths Things Over With Hakan Calhanoglu After Summer Transfer Soap Opera | OneFootball

Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has smoothed things over with midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu after his summer transfer soap opera.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the pair worked together for the first time in training yesterday.

Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is back at Inter Milan. The Turkish international returned to training this week, following what’s been a long, heated summer.

Transfer rumours linking Calhanoglu and Galatasaray have floated around for many weeks. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce also tried to bring the 31-year-old to Istanbul, according to some reports.

But Calhanoglu will in fact be staying at Inter this summer. The player himself confirmed as much.

All of these constant transfer rumours caused some transfer rumours at Inter.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez had all but called out the Turkish international a few weeks ago.

Speaking frankly after Inter’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense, the Argentine implored “whoever wants to leave, leave.”

Therefore, there is a feeling that coach Cristian Chivu has had his first major fire to put out.

The 44-year-old already held an emergency team meeting after the Club World Cup. He wanted to clear the air and give the squad the chance to openly speak after all the drama with Martinez’s comments.

And now, Chivu has had the chance to discuss things with Calhanoglu. The Turk is present as the coach gets ready to lead preseason training.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the atmosphere has been positive.

In spite of the transfer saga with Calhanoglu, there has been no tension in the air in the midfielder’s interactions with Chivu.
