Borussia Dortmund are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea to extend the loan of Carney Chukwuemeka for next season according to reports.
The Blues are once again going to be busy this summer and have already signed Liam Delap, with more new faces expected to follow.
Chelsea face a critical window and are also looking to bring in a versatile forward, left winger and centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.
Whilst incomings are important, outgoings are vital and Chelsea need to sort out the future of a number of players.
Chukwuemeka falls into that category, and he’s currently on loan at Dortmund having joined the Bundesliga outfit in January.

Maresca made it very clear the 21-year-old wasn’t part of his plans, and he started just one game in the first half of the season.
Chukwuemeka has struggled with injury both at Chelsea and Dortmund, and he made ten Bundesliga appearances totalling 245 minutes.
The midfielder has featured in all of Dortmund’s games at the Club World Cup, with the German side through to the last 16.
Niko Kovac is a fan of Chukwuemeka, and according to German Publication BILD via X.com, Dortmund are close to reaching an agreement to extend the loan for next season.
Chelsea would ideally prefer a permanent sale, and Chukwuemeka does has a £40m release clause in his contract, but another loan is probably going to be the best solution.
Chukwuemeka won’t be the only player to leave Chelsea this summer, and there’s a chance as many as ten could depart.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined Arsenal, whilst the likes of Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Armando Broja are all likely to be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door.
Outgoings have been a bit slow so far, and Chelsea do need to start moving quicker in that regard, but moving Chilwell and Sterling on will save them a significant amount in wages.
